THE WINDSOR HAS THE SUMMER BLUES

Windsor showed their Spring/Summer collection 2014 @ Bread & Butter last week. This collection is packed with blue tones, but also some olive green and of course khaki's. I really love the denim feeling in the collection it makes it more relaxed, still having a lot of style.

FILSON @ BREAD & BUTTER, BERLIN

I think you all know by now, that I'm a sucker for Filson. I really get a smile on my face when I see
a Filson bag! On the booth in Berlin they didn't just showed the Spring/Summer 2014 collection but also a wall filled with vintage bags. These vintage bags are send back by customers for repair or even as a complaint. The company sent those customers free of charge a new bag, repair the old ones and sell these to guys who can't wait to break down there own bag. Filson bags are like a great denim
you have to break it down yourself. I do like the wool baseball cap with the "F" made in the USA that's for sure.

CHAD MEETS OAK STREET - BOOTMAKERS

I met George Vlagos @ Bread & Butter, Berlin in the L.O.C.K. Fire dept. He is the founding father of
Oak Street Bootmakers. His father has a shoe repair shop in Chicago and in this shop he learned the craft of shoemaking from an early age. Today, George seeks to preserve the heritage of fine shoemaking through thoughtfully designed and attentively crafted shoes.
All Oak Street shoes and boots are handcrafted in the USA by shoemakers with over 20 years of experience. The highest standards of production are employed to yield shoes that are as durable as they are comfortable. Each pair makes use of replaceable outsoles, a feature normally reserved for formal footwear, to ensure a lifetime of wear.

As Chicago is also home to Horween leathers it ain't a surprise that Oak Street shoes and boots are constructed from renowned Horween Chromexcel leather. Chromexcel undergoes 89 separate processes taking 28 days and utilizing all five floors of the Horween facility in Chicago. Over the past 100 years very little has changed in the formula. Food-grade beef tallow, cosmetic-grade beeswax, marine oil, chrome salts, tree bark extracts and naturally occurring pigments are combined. The mixture is then applied using heat, steam pressure, the hands of craftsman and time. This ultimately yields the soft, supple and durable leather that is used for your shoes or boots.

You haven't been to Berlin or to the Bread & Butter if you haven't been to 14Oz. this "temple of fashion" is a must see for denim geeks, but not just denim. What about Nigel Cabourn, the biggest collection in Europe, Filson with special colors just for made for 14Oz, Haversack, Tricker's, Alden, Red Wing, Denham, Barena, Monitaly, Momotaro etc. etc. I was very much surprised how crowded the store was, Xmas is early this year!
