EDDIE BAUER - AIN'T MOUNTAIN HIGH ENOUGH

In 1963 Jim Whittaker, in partnership with Sherpa Nawang Gombu, became the first American to climb to the roof of the world and summit Mt. Everest. He did it outfitted in Eddie Bauer down. On that same American Mount Everest Expedition, Tom Hornbein and Willi Unsoeld completed the first successful ascent of the challenging West Ridge route, which remains one of the greatest achievements in the history of mountaineering.

To celebrate of the 50th anniversary of these triumphs, Eddie Bauer returned to Mt. Everest in 2012 with two teams of world-class, high-altitude climbers, an entire line of award-winning, guide-built First Ascent gear, and a mission to retrace the steps of the historic American achievements on Mt. PENFIELD @ CAMP WANDAWEGA

Inspired by the Great American outdoors, Massachusetts based Penfield recently traveled to beautiful Wisconsin to shoot their Fall/Winter 2012 Collection Lookbook. Shot on location at the recently restored Camp Wandawega, the lookbook features the brands classics: Down jackets, Mountain Parkas, as well as knitwear, fleece, and flannel shirts rounding out the collection. Fjällräven Numbers

In the early days of Fjällräven, all the products were numbered. The Numbers series takes up this tradition again in honour of the heritage of the brand and the man who started Fjällräven in the 1960's Åke Nordin. The numbers used in the Numbers series show how many preeccessors each product has had. Jacket No. 68 is the latest in a long line of functional hardwearing, outdoor shell jackets. The fabrics and details have been carefully chosen to minimise environmental impact. Zippers can be easily replaced after many years of wear. Most leather straps are made from reclaimed scraps and buttons are made of bamboo. The collection is designed with all four seasons in mind and makes mixing and matching of the layers possible. It all starts with a Grandpa's woolen undershirt and ends with Anorak No. 8 an advanced trekking anorak for all four seasons. I had lots of fun working with the products, thanks to Fjällräven, Holland who lend me the products.

CHAD GOES OUTDOORS IN AMSTERDAM

Recently, I paid a visit to the showrooms of Pendleton & Filson in Amsterdam. Tobias of Tobi's Agency welcomed me with some coffee and soon we talked about our passion, Americana. In the eighties he get this Americana virus, working in a (vintage) clothing store in Amsterdam and finally started in the 90's his import/agency with true American products like Pendleton, Filson and Dickies. As a passionate fly-fisher he knows what he can expect from a Filson product and this knowledge he transfer to his dealers. The showroom houses in an old warehouse of a former Amsterdam shipyard and still you can see the dry dock in front of the building. The main floor is reserved for the collections of Dickies, Armor Lux and Pendleton blankets and the mezzanine is filled with all kind of Filson bags, tin cloth pants, cruiser jackets, tin cloth hats and even fly fishing cases. Tobias, I'm looking forward to another cup of coffee.

MUSEUM SS 2013 COLLECTION

The very first time I got in contact with Museum, was @ the Premium Fashion Fair a few weeks ago. I met the guys from Museum and they were so nice to sent me some samples of the SS 2013 collection. And today I had the pleasure of shooting the products. My favorite is the camouflage coat, made from Multicam fabric used in military circles for it's perfect camouflage performance. The collection of Museum is based on 3 themes, the first is called Antarctica, the second theme is called Fiumi e Foreste (Rivers and Forests) this theme is inspired by American workwear reinterpreted in an urban/functional key. Like the "Work jkt" in Chambray with yellow details. Ground field is the third theme and the most military of the three, inspired by the Marines. For the very first time Museum offers also a range of chino's. I like the orange details on them. Wish it was already summer 2013.......
