Black forest trifle for two.

With Valentine's Day just around the corner, we thought it would be fun to come up with a simple dessert to try out for the occasion! I don't know why, but I have been craving black forest cake now for almost a month (and no, i'm not pregnant!) so I thought I'd switch it up and make it in mini trifle form! Not only is it sweet to look at, this dessert took no time at all to whip up!

Here's what you need:

* A box of chocolate cake mix, or a favorite simple chocolate cake recipe of your own.
* Whipping cream, 2 Tbsp of sugar & a dash of vanilla extract to make whipped cream (if you've never made it before, check out this easy "how-to"!)
* A can of cherry pie filling
* A little bit of shaved chocolate for on top

All you do is bake the cake (just follow the instructions on the box) and while it's in the oven you can make the whipped cream. Once the cake is done and cooled down, you can start assembling your trifle. We started with cake, and then cherry filling topped with whipped cream and then repeat and enjoy! Now just grab a couple of spoons and a loved one (or don't share, we won't judge!) and eat up!* Just so you know, this recipe does make more than two trifles!

XO, Erin
